Conqueror, Decidnos, ¿quienes sois?
Cuatro tipos de Hate-City (Johannesburgo-Sudáfrica) que pasan el rato tocando hardcore.

Habéis presentado recientemente vuestro primer Lp " Life on repeat " ¿Cómo esta siendo la acogida?
Pues la espera ha sido tan emocionante como desquiciante. Estamos muy emocionados ya que por fin tenemos copias físicas de nuestros discos. El CD / LP tiene "Life on repeat", así como el "Truth Seeker " y el EP "Reality Check". La respuesta ha sido genial hasta ahora y estamos ansiosos de venir a Europa y tocarlo ante nuevos oídos.

"Life on repeat "ha sido publicado por Genet Records. ¿Cómo contactasteis con ellos? ¿Cómo lleváis esta relación entre Bélgica y Sudáfrica?
Resulta que estábamos en proceso de buscar fechas para una gira por Europa y habíamos acordado tocar en el Ieper Fest. Resultó que los chicos que montaban el Festival también llevaban Genet Records. ¡Estaban dispuestos a publicarnos algo y nosotros estábamos más que interesados en la oportunidad! Así que no hubo problema.

Internet ha hecho muy pequeño el mundo, así que el contacto entre Bélgica y Sudáfrica no ha sido un problema. ¡Estoy muy contento con la relación con Genet y deseoso de ver dónde va! Nuevas amistades y nuevas posibilidades.



Todas las canciones son muy cortas, como una banda de grindcore. ¿Cuáles son vuestras influencias dentro y fuera de la música?

Las canciones son tan largas como deben ser. Algunas más largas, otras un poco más cortas. Sólo depende de cuánto se tarda en meter toda la letra. Nuestras influencias en la música son muy amplias; tanto  nos encantan bandas como INFEST o LEFT FOR DEAD, como Wu-Tang Clan y todo tipo de hip-hop old school. Y con todos nosotros trabajando de 9 a 17, diría que mucha influencia proviene también del mundo del trabajo. Lo bueno, lo malo, las frustraciones y limitaciones. Eso si, Ross es un artista del tatuaje, así que todos le tenemos algo de envidia haha

La portada del EP "Reality check" es una locura. ¿Quién hace estos diseños?
  Chris, nuestro bateria, diseño la portada para "Reality Check". Tratamos de mantener tanto del diseño, reservas, grabación etc... Como parte del trabajo de la banda. Y realmente es una ventaja tener a alguien que puede manejar todo lo del diseño. ¡También queríamos ver qué parecíamos como cabras!



¿Cómo está la escena hardcore en Sudáfrica?

Me gustaria decir que en este momento esta bastante fuerte. Todas las ciudades tienen escenas y, por el momento, gozan de buena salud, con un montón de nuevas bandas apareciendo. Sudáfrica es muy pequeña, así que la "escena hardcore" más o menos cubre todas las bandas con el punk rock y la ética DIY. Lo que significa un montón de conciertos de estilos variados y, que, en mi opinión han ayudado en el fortalecimiento de la contracultura. Hay un sentido definido de comunidad y unidad, apoyando los conciertos y giras, y, también realmente se apoya a las bandas principiantes. Creo que con el tiempo y con más conciencia, las cosas podrían realmente avanzar de una manera positiva.

 
Forman parte de marihuana y drogas de CONQUEROR?

  Jaja. No, en absoluto. Ninguno de nosotros toma drogas. Somos todos "hinchas del verde", pero es ahí donde termina la cosa. Vivimos el estilo de vida 4.20.

¿Qué opinas de los  Straight edge?
Un montón de nuestros amigos son Straight edge y siempre apoyaré cualquier persona que destaca por sus creencias y se mantiene ahí por las razones que cree correctas.

Este verano vendréis a Europa, ¿ya habéis confirmado las fechas? ¿que países vais a visitar?

  ¡¡ No puedo esperar que llegue el momento! Tenemos fechas desde el 18 de julio hasta el 10 de agosto. Visitaremos Alemania, Bélgica, Austria, Suiza, Francia y República Checa. Pronto se anunciarán las fechas completas

Recently you presented your first Lp "Life on repeat" How is it being the host?

 Its both exciting and nerve racking. Super stoked that we finally have physical copies of our releases. The CD/LP's has "Life on Repeat" as well as the "Truth Seeker" and "Reality Check" EP's. The response has been great so far and we can't wait to come to Europe and play it to new ears!


"Life on repeat" has been released by Genet records. How you get in touch with them? How is work between Belgium and South Africa?
 We were in the process of booking a European tour and I had applied to play at Ieperfest. It turned out that the guys that work on the fest also run Genet Records. They were keen to do a release and we were more than stoked at the opportunity! The internet makes it a very small world, so contact between Belgium and South Africa hasn't been a problem. Im very excited about the relationship with Genet and keen to see where it goes! New friendships and new possibilities.


All the songs are very short, like a grindcore band ajajajja. What are your influences inside and outside of music?
The songs are as long as they need to be. Some longer, some shorter. Just depends how long it takes to get the lyrics across. Influences on the music is pretty broad, as much as we all love bands like INFEST and LEFT FOR DEAD, we are also equally as into the Wu-Tang Clan and all sorts of old school hip hop. With all of us working 9-5 jobs, id say a lot of influence is drawn from the working world. The highs, the lows, the frustrations and limitations. Ross is a Tattoo Artist, so we all envy him some what. haha


The cover of the ep "Reality check" is crazy . Who makes these designs?
Chris, our drummer, designed the cover for "Reality Check". We try to keep as much of the design, bookings, recording etc.. within the band. So its really an asset having someone who can handle the design side. We also wanted to see what we looked like as Goats!


How is the hardcore scene in south africa?

 At this point in time id like to say pretty strong. The big towns all have pretty healthy scenes at the moment, with lots of new bands popping up! SA is very small, so the "hardcore scene" kinda covers all the bands with the punk rock/ DIY ethos. Which means a lot of mixed genre shows. South Africa seems to be a hotspot of late for the bigger, 30 seconds to Mars, kinda bands. Which in my opinion has really helped in strengthening the counter-culture. There is a definite sense of community coming out at shows and kids really do their part in supporting touring bands and newcomers. I think in time and with more awareness, things could really move forward in a positive way!


Are marijuana and drugs part of Conqueror?

Haha. Not at all. None of us are drug users. We are all supporters of the green, but thats where it ends. Livin' that 4.20 lifestyle.


What you think about Straight edge kids?

 A lot of our friends are Straight Edge and I will always support anyone who stands by their beliefs and are in it for the right reasons. I think it's good to stand for something.


in This summer You will come to Europe, you already have confirmed dates? What countries that are going to visit?
Cannot wait to come over! We have dates from the 18th July until the 10th August. We'll be visiting Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, France and Czech Republic. Full dates will be announced soon!
